Our Achievements

August 2019

17th of August we were at the Welsh Kennel Club. Dalek (Multi Ch Banana Bender Smoky Mountain (Imp Ita), handled by Andi Horwood, and we thank her for this, was 1st in Open Dog, then awarded the Dog CC and BOS. This has made him a UK Champion, subject to KC approval, which we were very excited about. Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita)) and Annie (Ch Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) were in the same class. Thanks to Gary Gray for handling Annie whilst I was handling Ninja. Ninja was placed 1st with Annie behind her. Ninja was then awarded Bitch CC and BOB, which means she is now on 2 tickets, and Annie was awarded Reserve CC. Our sincere thanks to our judge, Mr Robin Searle, for these placings and his input into making Dalek up to a Champion. Our thanks also to the other judges who awarded him CCs ~ Mr Ian Blackshaw at Birmingham National and Mr Jeff Luscott at Windsor. I was especially chuffed with Ninja's placings since she was owner handled and I have to say that she went really well in the Group. All in all we had a wonderful day!

We are stepping back from showing our dogs, though may pop up here and there if the mood takes us. Annie is now on maternity leave and we are eagerly awaiting the arrival of her and Dalek's puppies.

July 2019

Last weekend in July saw us travelling up to Leeds where Denise Cartwright was judging ACDs. Annie (Ch Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) was expertly handled by Gary Gray and took 1st in Open Bitch and Bitch CC.

After spending a fabulous long weekend at Picnic In The Park, an annual event put on by our great friends John and Wendy Broughton for Yarraman owners (past and present) and friends and supporters of our dogs we had a sad task to undertake on our return home. Unfortunately we knew that our beloved Conte was struggling and the time had come to give him release. We were heartbroken that the time had come but keeping him because we didn't want to let him go would have been cruel and, of course, selfish. He was a big character and it would take a special dog to fill his empty place. He goes, taking a piece of our hearts with him.

June 2019

Last weekend of the month we went to Windsor Championship Dog Show where is to hot, hot, hot. Our judge was Mr Jeff Luscott and we thank him most sincerely for the placings he gave to our dogs. As ever, thanks to handlers for their fine work too! First in Open Dog was Dalek (Multi Ch Banana Bender Smoky Mountain (Imp Ita)). 1st in Limit Bitch was Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita)) and 1st in Open Bitch was Annie (Ch Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)). Dalek took the Dog CC and was Best of Breed. Annie took the Bitch CC and was BOS with Ninja taking the Reserve Bitch CC.

First weekend of the month we went to The Southern Counties Canine Association show. No CCs and maybe that was reflected in the entry since we were the only exhibitors of ACDs on the day. Our judge was Mr Robin Newhouse and he placed our dogs as follows: Best Dog (
Multi Ch Banana Bnder Smoky Mountain (Imp Ita)) and Best of Breed was Dalek, Best Bitch was Annie (Ch Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) and Reserve Bitch was Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita)). Our grateful thanks to the judge for his positive comments and observations about our dogs which rounded out an enjoyable day. As ever, thanks to Andi and Gary for their handling input, we couldn't do it without you guys! Five years shaved off our lives, however, by a crazy driver on our way home.

May 2019

We took at trip to National Dog Show in Birmingham where Mr Ian Blackshaw was our judge. Dalek, (Multi Ch Banana Bender Smoky Mountain (Imp Ita)) was first in Open Dog and then went on to take the Dog CC and Best Of Breed. Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita)) was first in Limit Bitch and Annie (Ch Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) was 2nd in Open Bitch and took the Reserve Bitch CC. Thank you to the judge, and, as always, Andi, for handling.

Last weekend of the month we went to Bath Canine Society where Lady Huntingdon was judging. We were delighted with Ninja's (
Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita)) 1st place in Limit Bitch followed by the Bitch CC, her first. Our thanks to the judge.

April 2019

So, after Crufts the beautiful dog Multi Ch Banana Bender Smoky Mountain (Imp Ita) came to stay at Yarraman, we are so pleased to have him here. He has found his feet and decided who his doggy friends will be so is now well settled and we look forward to showing him. There were no cattle dog classes at WELKS but we thought we would enter AVNSC Pastoral to give Dalek a gentle introduction to showing in the UK. Our judge was Mr Tim Ball. Dalek, (Multi Ch Banana Bender Smoky Mountain (Imp Ita)) was first in Open Dog. Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita)) was first in Post Graduate Bitch and Annie (Ch Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) was 1st in Open Bitch. Dalek was Best Dog and Best Of Breed, Annie was Best Bitch and Nina was Reserve Best Bitch. The weather was horrendous with high winds and driving rain, so, we decided that as much as we would have like to, we were not staying for the Group. Our thanks to the judge and our handlers for contributing to a good day's showing.

March 2019

We have not been showing much recently. Lots of personal stuff going on that took precedence. However, we were looking forward to going to Crufts, meeting up with friends who were also exhibiting and just there to support us (thank you!). We took Ben (Ch/Int Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) but did not show him as he wasn't sound when we got him out the van, he was happy just to meet and greet. However, we have decided that this was his last show. First in the ring for us was Conte (Ch Banana Bender Conte De Cavour (imp Ita)) who was first in Veteran Dog. Next was Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (imp Ita)) our lovely red girl, shown by me as she is my little shadow and she was first in Limit Bitch. Following her was Annie (Ch Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (imp Ita)) in the Open Bitch class. Annie was shown by Gary Gray and his longer stride certainly suited her as she powered around the ring! Annie was first in this class and then went on to be BEST BITCH and BEST OPPOSITE SEX. We were over the moon with our placings and all of the placings for dogs in the Banana Bender family. Our grateful thanks to Sue Hewart-Chambers for the placings and to Gary Gray and Andi Harwood for their support with handling.

We have an announcement to make regarding the arrival of a new arrival for Yarraman but that will wait for another day......................

September 2018

Off to Richmond Championship Dog Show where Ben (Ch/Int Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) took the Dog CC and was Best of Breed and Annie (Ch Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) took the Reserve Bitch CC, Our sincere thanks to judge, Mr Paul Lawless, for these placings. We were extremely pleased when Ben was pulled out for further consideration in the group by judge Mrs Margaret Wildman. It was lovely to see Ben in the ring with Gary Gray, whom Ben loves very much and always goes so well for. Our thanks to Andi too for showing Annie.

August 2018

Ben (Ch/Int Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) and Annie (Ch Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) have now had their Champion status confirmed by the Kennel Club. They, plus Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita)) and Conte (Banana Bender Conte De Cavour) have been tested for PLL status and I am very pleased to report that they are all clear of the condition.

June 2018

On 24th of June we headed to Blackpool and District Championship Show. What a change in the weather from last week, today it very hot. Annie (Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) was so hot she was on fire and took Bitch CC, her third, so, at the tender age of 20 months, she is now a CHAMPION. Ben (Ch/Int Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) was Reserve Best Dog and Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita)) was second in a strong Open Bitch class. We are so very grateful to our judge Mr Karl-Erik Johansson (Sweden) for our placings today and, as ever, to Andi Horwood for her handling expertise.

The weather was not great at Border Union this year with torrential rain on our way up and back. We had been warned though to dress for summer and winter, so we were prepared! Our judge today was Mr Gary Gray. We only had the two girls, Annie and Ninja with us. Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita)) was first in Open Bitch and Annie (Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) was first in Limit Bitch. Annie then went on to take the Bitch CC and Best Of Breed. She is only 20 months old, so this was both a surprise and a delight. Annie now has 2 CCs. We could not stay for the group but the judge understood why we couldn't do this, and, frankly, with such a young bitch it was unlikely she would have done much against the more mature competition. Our thanks to the judge for his placings for which we are very grateful.

We had a lovely day at Three Counties Championship Show under Mrs Julie Swann, which made up for having had to leave at the crack of dawn. Our Ben (Ch/Int Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) took the Dog CC and Best Of Breed. Annie (Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) was first in Limit Bitch. Ninja (Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman) was 2nd in Open Bitch and Grace (UK/AM Ch Kurpas Saving Grace Is Yarramans (Imp USA)) was 1st in Veteran Bitch and went on to take the Bitch CC. Thank you to Andi for showing the youngsters, and how chuffed I am that it was me who was showing Grace to her win! Over the moon! Grace was only there because she gets so excited when she knows a show day is in the offing and then so disappointed when she doesn't get to come along with us. She should be retired but quality never fades nor her love of showing off! Thank you Mrs Swann for these results.

This award to Ben restored him to Champion status here in the UK. In 2017 he had been stripped of awards due to a complaint made by someone who is probably miserable in their own life and wants to create the same for others. The complaint revolved around some errors in the recording of his breeder(s) in catalogues, not all of our making I should say. This led to Ben losing awards he had received whilst in our ownership and, bizarrely, when he was exhibited here but still belonged to Paulo and Simona Coletta, which seems grossly unfair. However, we decided to get Ben his title back and in a short period of time we had. You can't keep a good dog down!

May 2018

A trip up to Scotland for SKC show at Ingliston where our judge was Mrs J. Peak. Ben (Multi Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) was 2nd in Open Dog and took the Reserve Dog CC. Annie (Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) was first in Limit Bitch. Thanks to Mrs Peak for these placings.

March 2018

Crufts! Our thanks to judge Mr Keith Baldwin for our placings. Ben (Multi Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) was (rightly) placed 3rd in the Open Class as he has been carrying a soft tissue injury and was not moving as well as he is capable of. This was Grace's (UK/AM Ch Kurpas Saving Grace Is Yarramans (Imp USA)) swansong and she is now permanently retired from the showring. She was second in Veteran Bitch. Annie (Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) was first in a strong Junior Bitch class. And the icing on the cake was that we met us with good friends (thanks especially to Wendy for making the journey she so hates!) and picked up our new dog, Banana Bender Juicy Fruit Yarraman (Imp Ita) (known as Ninja) from Massimo Cusan.

September 2017
We were delighted when at Richmond our Judge, Mr Kari Jarvinen (Finland), gave the Bitch CC and also Best Puppy award to our baby, Annie (Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)). Annie has certainly had a fabulous start to her showing career! Thank you to the judge, Andi Horwood for showing her for us and our friends for taking Annie when we couldn't manage on the day.

August 2017

We had a good day at the Welsh Kennel Club under Australian judge, Joanne McCann, with our girls. Annie (Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip (Imp Ita)) was, same as her last outing, Best Puppy and Reserve Best Bitch. Another cracking result for our 9 month old baby, we were very pleased with her performance. Grace (UK/AM Ch Kurpas Saving Grace Is Yarramans (Imp USA)) was Best Veteran. Ben (Multi Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) was also with us but only made 2nd place in Open Dog today. Thanks to Andi for her expert handling and to the judge for these placings.

July 2017

On 15th of July we set off for National Working and Pastoral Breeds Society Show where our judge was Mr Jeff Horswell. Ben (Multi Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) took the Dog CC and was then Best of Breed. Grace (UK/AM Ch Kurpas Saving Grace Is Yarramans (Imp USA)) was Best Veteran and Annie (Banana Bender Yarraman Hot Gossip) (Imp Ita) was Best Puppy and Reserve Best Bitch. Our thanks, as always, to Andi for her sympathetic handling. Also, gratefu thanks to the judge for these placings.

May 2017

At the beginning of May we went to National Dog Show where our judge was Mr Jeff Luscott. First in Veteran Bitch was our Grace (UK/AM Ch Kurpas Saving Grace Is Yarramans (Imp USA)) and first in Open Dog was Ben (Multi Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)). Grace was then awarded Best Veteran in Breed, Bitch CC and Best Opposite Sex. Ben was Dog CC and Best Of Breed. Thank you to Andi Horwood for her exemplary handling and to the judge for these placings.

March 2017

We were incredibly honoured to be asked if our Grace (
UK/AM Ch Kurpas Saving Grace Is Yarramans (Imp USA)) could come to Crufts as an exhibit for the International Junior Handler competition on the Saturday. I do not believe an ACD has ever been invited to take part in this competition before. Grace, as usual, was brilliant and the first handler, Lisa Pocs from Hungary, fell in love with her ~ she can be seen in the Youtube video kissing Gracie on the top of her head - aaaaahhhh!

It was a very long day on the Saturday but Grace pulled out all the stops the following day in the breed classes where she was 1st in Veteran Bitch and
RESERVE BEST BITCH in breed. Ben (Multi Ch Banana Bender Benjamin Buford Blue (Imp Ita)) was placed 4th in a strong class of 15 entries. Our thanks to the Judge, Miss Haapaniemi, for these placings.

Congratulations also to Jenny Wright who with a daughter of our Conte, Millbelle Whole Lota Rosie, was first in Limit Bitch and, of course, we were delighted that Paulo and Simona Coletta's
ITA/HR/NL/E/B/DK/INT CH Banana Bender Anna La Regina was both Bitch CC winner and also Best of Breed.
